So the first immediately obvious thing upon arriving in Esch-sur-Alzette was this: I had no idea where the hell we were. I mean, I knew we were in Luxemburg, obviously, but it was sill surreal. Why was it surreal? Because the only things I could see (and I scrutinized the horizon thoroughly) were a huge, empty red building, a bunch of cranes, a shopping centre, the Rockhal and an old, rusted-over steelworks factory.
Yes, an old, rusted-over steelworks factory. Words cannot convey how awesome it looked and how much it made me wish for photographic talent, because holding a photoshoot there would be legendary. I'm fairly certain they built stuff around the factory for the workers and such and now that it's been abandoned it just sort of lies there.
So we were there and someone thought that we should bring a bottle of water along in case we got thirsty, so I had to cradle it along. We stopped by the shopping centre for a bite to eat and for me to buy some binoculars, because I am very dumb and I forgot ours at home. 19.99, it's alright. Could've bought two sandwiches with that.
So at this point time was pressing on and it was nearly 18:30, and seeing as they'd open the doors at 19:00 hours I kept urging mum and Onno to EAT FASTER GODDAMNIT. When we got into the queue for the doors it was nearly three times bigger than it was when we arrived, so I of course bitched endlessly about it. Then I got a bit annoyed because we had to throw our bottle away before entering the Rockhal (?) and I was the only person who tried to drink it so it wouldn't go to waste. Half a bottle!...
SO ANYWAY the Hal itself sucked. The interior design was good and everything, but it wasn't good for concerts at all. It was basically a big stone box, so the acoustics were shit. And they had technicians doing light and voice tests minutes before the concert began (?!). Bear in mind that seeing as the concert was supposed to start at 20:00 hours and they were still doing tests at 20:10 hours we were all getting a bit restless, and seeing as there was nothing else to do we all cheered when a technician came on stage.
And then, at 20:30, glory be! And I do mean, glory be! It was so thrilling to see the lights dim, the music start and then seeing Neil and Chris entering the stage for the first time like this:

It was... word.
The first song was Heart, one of my favourites, still with the boxes over their heads. And a kickin' rad video in the background.
A this point you may have noticed how ridiculously close we were to the stage. Even more than the pictures make it seem since we have this weird camera that makes things look further away than they actually are. So yeah, 19.99 to shit. My mum and Onno still used them to check if Neil's hair was really white and yeah.
Second song was Love Comes Quickly, which we conveniently taped twenty seconds of. Notice how the boxes had been removed at this point and we could see that yes, they were there. Eeee
Then they started playing songs from the new album, starting with Pandemonium and following that with Love Etc, which we again conveniently seem to have in crappy video format!. I'd like to take this minute to draw your attention to Neil's awesome leather daddy boots, which he kept on for the entire concert, even when he changed into a suit (see below). You can also kind of see he's got that Old Man chicken legs thing going, aw.
Check out Neil's awesome sense of rythm or jumpy leg syndrome. With added 'girlfriend' handflip.
Then he changed jackets. Chris did too and OH MY GOD WHAT. The effect of this jacket is completely lost in picture form but he was a human disco ball, seriously. I wasn't let down by my awesome clothing expectations.
Some pictures of the backup dancers. There was a young man, a girl and two twin sisters.

And then, er. I can't for the life of me remember what was being sung here, but it kind of came completely out of nowhere (maybe Being Boring?). Perhaps even more surprising: when Neil went off to get changed again, Chris leaped out of his lightbox and rocked some sweet moves. Pity I couldn't get it on film.
Then they performed Jealousy. With Neil in the aformentioned suit and daddy boots. The dancing in this was great, they really did a stellar job on this song.
So after that Neil thought it'd be cool to dress up as a king and perform Coldplay's Viva La Vida (better than the original band, might I add) while film of him in the same kind outfit strolling through a park with an umbrella played against the white boxes. Whatever ticles your fancy.
Then Everything exploded (read: got hooked to strings and lifted up in the air). And no, the man in the white coat and helmet isn't a backup dancer, he's one of those annoying technicians who kept popping up to move stuff. Way to be discreet man, thumbs up.
I pretty much want all of Neil's outfit here. Their hats ffff
Then, sadness: their last song. This was already the encore so it really was the last one. Care to guess what?
OBVIOUSLY. I love how Neil just struts his stuff, haha
So yeah, it owned. Audience was basically 60% old gay guys, 20% young gay guys and 20% middle-aged women. And I got these cool t-shirts! I would love to go to another concert of theirs, it absolutely fulfilled my expectations. I think they still have an album or two left in them before they retire, so I'll be praying that they decide to tour again and happen to pass near where I live. Again.
tl;dr: IT WAS ORGASMIC.
In shitty news: exams have begun. Did maths today, it was alright I guess, I think I passed. Physics is gonna fuck me tomorrow but ~*I dun care*~ and anyway I have my English exam right after that so I'll recuperate.

I think of myself as an intelligent, sensitive human being with the soul of a clown which always forces me to blow it at the most important moments.
